OK - I'm convinced I won't go out of this house in a box because of exterminating. However, I still would like to know if I could avoid inside treatment and just do outside to get rid of this problem. If there was no bait outside (although they seem to have stopped taking the bait) would they stay in the house and never get outside to get the Termidor on them?
I now have pavement ants, carpenter ants, middle size black ants and the tiniest little ants you ever saw in my basement and kitchen area. Don't know where they come from or how they get in. Spraying them with 25% white vinegar and 75% water to see if that works. (My friend said it works - just stuns them and does not kill them supposedly and they are supposed to go back to the nest and report that the house is not a good place to be.
Going to give Bill Murphy a call Monday. I am just squeeking in as his area is inside Rte. 495 and I just make it. The ants seem to have stopped munching on the Terro so I put a tiny dab of maple syrup on the bait and hope it draws them back. These seem to be Einstein ants -- they must know it is poison and are staying away from it now. I guess that is why I am seeing them in the house.
I have a very elderly central vac so afraid to vacuum them up. Guess I need some cheap, small vacuum with bags for use re: ants so I can just get rid of the bag.
Thanks again for all your help......if I didn't feel so ill I wouldn't be as paranoid. On top of my health, hubby is going to have spine surgery. Trying to keep my head together.
