Sorry to bother you again. It is too expensive to keep changing those bags and if there are ants in the bag they can make their way back throughout the piping. I suppose they would eventually die but being "carpenters" they could probably chew their way through one of the pipes. They are so old and brittle they are going to break any day now. When we had a new vac unit put in he said he couldn't change the pipes in the walls and closet as they would just shatter except for the ones in the basement that were accessable and those just fell to pieces when he started to remove them.
Question: Is what happened to me an isolated case or does this happen frequently? I have never seen an army of ants decending upon a house like that -- walking, flying, small, medium and elephant sized. They just took over the whole house. They are even in the front of the house now and I saw a couple walking up the house and the carpenter that put in the new soffit vents a few years ago said they only come without screens now so we have no screens up there in the soffits. Sure the openings are tiny but you know ants can get in anywhere they want. I hope they are not up there also.
Thanks. You don't know how much help you have been......to all of us out here.
