Thanks, re: Termidor. re: the tech, this guy was a grizzled old character who said he'd been doing it for 19 years or something like that. I believed him, too, but when I suggested we try to get some of the dust into the ceiling, he asked if *I* had a step ladder. Also, he was reluctant to check out the second and third floors because my "spray job was already in place"--which, um, isn't quite accurate. He wasn't a bad guy, but $400 for about 40 minutes of "work" seems like a lot, also, he used the sticky stuff pretty randomly, it seemed to me (sometimes "rebaiting" my traps, and sometimes not). We've seen a lot of the critters dying, I'll say that. But they seem to have migrated to the areas where he didn't spray (i.e., 2nd and 3rd floors). I have 3 days to cancel the contract, which would entail 4 bimonthly follow up visits @ $119/per. He suggested that he didn't think there was a nest because there were too few of them, but of course raised the specter that he couldn't get to the eggs or the next stage, and so it needs to be a "war of attrition" over time. It makes intuitive sense if the eggs have a long incubation time, I guess, but I'm sure they're all about locking in the bucks, as you say...
