Sometimes the guy they send out is a salesman... In which case, you'll be paying for him AND the exterminator. Ask the man if he has a license and if he will be doing the treatment.
Frankly, I almost always quote right over the phone, with the understanding that if I find (when I get there) that the house is HUGE, or maybe the problem HUGE, I would alter the price. But I always do that before any treatment, so the customer has a chance to back out. Very few times have I altered a price, however.
Also, a lot of companies list multiple numbers, but they all go into one office phone.
The problem with the exterminator on vacation, is that he might not have all the equipment he needs, nor the license in that particular state.
