I have a tree root the follows along the side of my house (tree was removed 2 1/2 yrs ago and the stump was ground down). My landscapper last year drilled holes into it and filled them with boric acid so that the root would rot away. This past week we painted the house and working outside I've noticed a few carpenter ants on the front patio and the covering over the patio. This is a week or so after my wife saw two in the house.
My 1st response was to get the red and yellow spray from Home Depot, then I started thinking about calling the exterminator that did my home inspection; but I've only seen two ants inside my house. Am I over reacting or is there somthing I should be doing. I'd like to get rid of the rest of the root, but's it's too close to the foundation that I don't want to create a bigger problem trying to solve a small one. What would be my best course of action?
