The "home remedy" you need, is to find out where they are. A suspicious place would be the areas where your floor has a crack. Possibly, the ants have taken up residence there, exploiting an area where they can have cover for a living space.
The best answer is not cheap: You must get into that area and clear up the problem. The ants frequently find those areas that allow them to live, allowing them easy access to food and moisture, and probably the outside.
I would make sure that all overhanging branches from the trees on the outside are trimmed back, especially if they touch the house.
No amount of chemicals, or home remedies, will alter the situation unless you solve the reason why they are there in the first place.
You didn't say how long this is going on, but the ants will have needed some time to set up the perfect spot for them.
Opening the floor, vacuuming out the ants and making sure the ants do not have access to water incursions. That will be the most expensive part, and it will take detective work.
