My husband and I live in Loxahatchee, Florida. During the past two summers we have gotten heavy rainy weather with thunder and lighting. This is our third summer with such weather and for the past 3 weeks now we get swarms of flying or carpenter ants all over the kitchen window and and countertops. They also appear at the bottom of the door leading to the back patio. This happens right after the storms, every day now. Why right after the storm and not at any other time? Do their appearance have something to do with the rainy weather? We have tried to find the source but can't find it. I see them appear from the floor where the counters are, but mostly, they just seem to fly in from out of nowhere. We have sprinkled boric acid on the kitchen window sill and the bottom of the walls, inside and outside the house but it doesn't seem to work. Lately, I notice that after we turn off the lights, a few appear in front of our TV in our bedroom. Are they attracted by light? I would appreciate any comments. Thank you.
By the way, this is a wonderful venue to discuss this problem. I hope we find an answer soon.
