Thank you for your answer, but the carpenter ants _are_ what caused the tree to split. They weakened the structure of the tree. I guess like love and marriage....it's the same with carpenter ants and trees.....some do end in a split.
Will try and find an answer to my cement idea, but will also try and find someone to take a look at my tree.
