I mentioned in my last post that after a termidor treatment the activity has picked up outside on my house.Since I have had little activity inside the house the exterminator didn't think the nest was in the house.I went around the house and tried to caulk and seal all gaps holes that I could find. Now there is a section of the house where sick ants are trying to climb up and enter everywhere they can, door jambs, soffit, everywhere. I called back exterminator and he baited by this area outside but I suspect that there may be a nest in the house, he didn't seem too concerned. I called another exterminator for another opinion and he witnessed the activity and feels there is a nest in house. He performed an inspection in attic by activity and didn't find anything suspect, but he also said I may have sealed off their trail and they are trying to get in any way they can, possibly to another section of the house. The house has alot of cathedral ceilings and areas inaccessible to get to in the attic without tearing out ceilings and walls and not knowing where to start is mind boggling. The second exterminator told me he didn't think so that we had to find the nest. I did find a few scaterred areas on roof that had leaked one by chimney and one by soil stack which were repaired but not dismanteled to find wet wood, probably a mistake from what I have learned from your site. The one leak by chimney is in an inacessable area of attic due to two cathedral ceilings coming together by chimney. My question is since I am seeing sick and dying ants outside is there any chance in your opinion that the perimeter treatment of termidor can kill a nest inside my house or do I have to start opening things up? Thanks for your help.
