John - This time I REALLY need your expert advice.
The ants stopped taking bait outdoors and are not taking any bait inside. They are digging through the cement somewhere on top but the cement ledge is at an angle so I put the bait on the level wooden beam above the cement ledge (couldn't get the bait to stick to the cement). They are coming down to the floor and walking around and going back up along the edge of the 4 foot wall of pressure treated wood and cement board screwed into the foundation wall that is there to protect my dryer from any water intrusion. I switched to Terro last night just in case they were tired of Gourmet but no intrest or can they not smell what is above on the wooden beam along the outside wall even though it is right above where they are digging in? Does this mean they are just not eating at present or are they looking for "real food". Don't want them up in the kitchen.
We keep the garbage can in the basement but now am afraid to....can't put can outside - too many skunks, possums, woodchucks, etc. around and the neighbors no longer leave them out either -- knocked over.
As you know I am ill and seem to be getting worse and trying to deal with everything but starting to lose it. I saw on the net they have come out with a Gourmet Gel. Do you think this would entice? I know they are coming through the cement from all the sand that keeps appearing down on the floor in that area - just can't seem to find the exact place up there and I am not supposed to use a ladder for anything anyway per doc esp. with the pain I am in now.
No offense but I am trying to avoid calling the exterminator right now because of how sick I feel and still not sure if he would use Phantom or Suspend or what. If they would only eat I would be a happy camper. I squirted vinegar and water on the ones on the floor and they went back up but that doesn't last long before they are back down. Sorry to vent but I could deal with this better if I did not feel so awful. Can't vacuum them with the central vac -- that's all I need in the pipes plus those bags are expensive and can't keep changing them..sort of out of money. You mentioned sometimes they go away on their own. I am just afraid they are going to establish a nest in the house. I did find a few in the upstairs bathroom. They seemed to be coming from by the heat vent pipe (baseboard heating) so I put some baby powder around it and haven't seen any at all up there since - about 5 days ago.
Thanks for your help.
