I just had my pest control guy out as I've had carpenter ants in my kitchen. They are always crawling across the tops of my cabinets. This morning there were 5 dead ones in my syrup bottle!! There are usually 5-7 of them at any given time on my cabinets. I've seen (thanks to your site I now know this) what appears to be their dust on my windowsill. Does this mean they are in the actual wood of my windowsill? I see no moisture there but I'm sure they may be coming underneath the window somehow as it's the only area I've seen their dust. We do have bushes and mulch all around the front of our house which is where our window is located but I have yet to find any nest really. Usually our problem is fire ants, but those are impossible to get rid of but at least they aren't invading my kitchen! My pest control guy said they should be gone within 4 days but after reading your site I'm having a hard time believing that as I haven't fixed the problem, even though I haven't been able to locate the actual problem. These ants are driving me crazy especially after this morning's syrup! Carpenter pancakes didn't go over very well with the kids. ;) Thanks for any advice.
