Posted by Kathy on 19:00:32 4/19/2009 from 24.56.248.218:

We noticed a rotting board under our back door (which has two wooden deck style steps that lead to the ground). When we removed the board, there was extensive damage to the insulation board and the wood beneath the insulation. Peeling away the vinyl siding a bit showed more damage nearby. The damage looks like it's from carpenter ants (and we live in the woods-with many dead pines at any given time) and we've had some ant activity in the past). So, my question is whom should we first call---a building inspector type to find out how extensive the damage is? an exterminator type? for repairing the damage would we just go to a builder/construction/remodeler person?

Thank you for your helpful website.
