Sometimes women hear better.... It could be ants and it doesn't necessarily mean CAs, lots of ants will make a home in there.

Take the trim off and see what's going on. Have the shop-vac handy to suck those little guys up. If you can detect any leaks, fix those. Leave the trim off for a few days to make sure all is well.

Put the trim back on, I would advise using screws, just in case you have to get back in there.

Notice I mentioned nothing of any insecticides....
