Okay, I have to admit, I've gone between panicking and trying to calm myself down for the past week! I panicked over the weekend, set up an appointment for an exterminator to be here on Monday, but by then had talked myself down and cancelled the appointment. Now its Tuesday and I've been in tears all evening because I'm so frustrated by the situation. We first saw a few ants in the bathroom a couple of weeks ago. We live in a ranch house on a slab, have lived here for 10 years. Since that time, we can have anywhere from 15-20 in the bathroom on a given day. I know exactly where they're coming in there, but to deal with that would probably require cutting into a wall and maybe removing the shower surround - is that necessary or is there an easier way to deal with this? Logically I know that they ants are harmless but the irrational part of my brain is making me break down in tears because it seems like they are EVERYWHERE!!!! THey are now in basically every room of my house. I could get up from my computer, walk into any room in my house, and find 3-4 in each room. I could kill those, come back an hour later and find 3-4 more. This goes on every day. I literally can't stand it! The ants in the bathroom and the ants in the other rooms aren't necessarily coming from the same place, at least I don't think so. This is the first year I have had a problem like this - we did have some last year but only in the bathroom and only for a while. I've tried Terra, I've tried sevin dust around the foundation, but I am just about at my wit's end and calling an exterminator just seems like a great idea regardless of the cost!! It hasn't rained here in about a week, and today (when the problem is by far at its worst day yet) was much warmer than it has been in a week - don't know if that has anything to do with it. Anyway, any advice?
