After I woke up and saw anywhere from 50-75 CA's all surrounding my toilet and ant traps, my father-in-law and I took your advice and took up the toilet. By the time he got here most of the ants retreated to under the toilet.
When we pulled it out there was no nest. After we cleaned up the wax, we noticed they were still coming out from under the flange. It doesn't look like there's any water damage around the flange. The floor looks fine. We went into the crawl space to get access to the pipe and the area around it, but the pipe must be located behind a wall because we can't get access to the pipe from the crawl space. I put a call into your company this morning because I think this is a problem that needs professional help and I'm at a loss. Couple of thoughts, hopefully you can answer each..
I'm assuming I have a nest in the house somewhere. Is that a correct assumption, since I saw that many CAs this morning?
Assuming there is a nest, is the nest most likely close to this pipe or did the ant baits just draw them out from wherever their nest may be?
Would the ants still be able to get access to other rooms in my house through this 1 nest, or could I have another? Like I said we've never had any signs of these ants before in my 10 years in this house before June of this year.
On a personal note, I'm glad I listened to you and were patient because there were about 3 different times I was about to call to get a Termidor treatment. I'm realizing that would have probably been a waste of money, since it looks like I could have a nest is in the house. I appreciate it and your honesty has already saved me money. It's tough finding honest people, especially ones good at their craft. Thanks.
