This year I have seen carpenter ants in our kitchen for the first time in 20 years. They are getting into the house by crawling the outside wall all the way into the soffit.
I understand that they are attracted to moist wood. I had a roofer do an inspection and he found some pieces of decayed fascia, that is covered by aluminum. He did not see any ant nest.
Shall I call an exterminator?
Shall I replace the decayed wood and reapply the aluminum?
Shall I request an infrared camera inspection of the house from a house inspector?

Any input will be appreciated.
