Do you really need to power wash the house? That drives water into places it shouldn't be and you CAN cause a problem doing that. The deck won't matter. And chemical treatment should be done AFTER everythig is done and dried out. And, yes, it is entirely possible to eliminate your problem that way. It depends on the expertise of the exterminator.

And you can LOOK for water damage, but not find it if it's hidden. And the ants really only need dead air spaces with access to water.
