For 10 years a maple tree outside my window always had carpenter ants. Never saw wings, but confirmed Carpenter. The maple tree is only about 10 feet from the house. Each year, about April or May, tons are in the house as well as outside. I say about 30 or more inside daily. All from the Maple tree. If the tree has a problem, I don't see it. Last year I noticed the Carpenter ants were getting less and small ants were coming. Now this year I see no carpenter ants but tons of these small ants. They have invaded nearly every room in my home. The tree is full of them. They look like a marching band. They do the march around my entire house, outside. I live in a mobile home. I LOVE my maple tree but these ants have become increasing more frequent. I don't even invite people over now. Who wants to sit down and have ants crawling on them?
Yes I'm in a panicky mode right now. I found one on my bed, YIKES, I check my bed every night now. No one should have to live like this.
Tens years of Carpenter ants and suddenly they totally disappear and hundreds of these small ones are now taking their place.
Please help me with any suggestions besides moving out. I did not call any exterminator since reading your site. The guy next door has been invaded from my maple tree as well. He had a exterminator come a year ago. The guy said it's good for 2 years. Bah humbug, what a waste of moey. I told him they would be back and they were. I'm ready to crawl under my house and let one of those defogger's go off, set one inside and get out for a couple hours. what about putting some of the sticky tape around the tree trunk to stop them from going up the tree? I grasping. straws now aren't I?
Great site you have. You are doing a great service to the many people who get sucked into tons of money for exterminators. You know what you're talking about, I like that Great site but I'm still in panic mode.
