I contacted you a few weeks ago. I am trying to swallow my panic and just relax...
Yesterday we had the roof guy out to take final measurements before he places his order for supplies. I was sitting in the upstairs office and saw one ant, then another, then another, then another and so on. They look like carpenter ants although many of them were of the smallest variety. I probably saw 10 in quick succession before I left the room. It looked as though they were coming in somewhere around the window where we definitely had water damage. I have seen no others in the house anywhere else. Can I wait until the roof gets fixed in two weeks to see if that's the problem?
I've been in touch with a local company that is in the business of restoring log homes and they're familiar with the ant problem and say that the penetrating Borocols will take care of it. I am trying to relax and wait but this house has been up for thirty years and I am anxious to make sure it is sound...
I don't want to move but want to fix this log home up and live happily but these ants are getting on my nerves.
I don't want to regret buying this log home. Also, the upstairs portion of the home is not log but cedar shingle and I suspect the ants are nesting somewhere around the window.
I really just need some reassurance or the word to take action.
