Cannot involve landlord until we have tried everything we can do ourselves. We usually fix stuff in the house when it breaks, to keep the rent from being raised. If these ants eat the house enough to make it fall apart, we only lose the roof over our heads, since we don't own the house. We told landlord in 2005 that the soffits were loose, and he said he would send someone to fix it, and that never happened either. He has not even called or come by in 4 years. Next hurricane will blow the roof off because the raccoons have eaten a hole in soffit where it was loose. The raccons and the ants must live in harmony in the attic, we hear them every night. I am just sick of ants crawling on me when I brush my teeth or try to clean up! We laid out 6 Terro liquid baits today, couldn't find any Max Force. We will see what happens next, and hubby will try to check the toilet gasket. There is not, however, any space between the floor and the toilet where they could come out, it is thoroughly grouted to the floor. That is why I thought the ants came from the exhaust fan or the heat duct when we bombed in there. Thanks for the idea, and I will keep you posted.
