I doubt the ants are actually infesting new wood 4x4s. They were probably stored before you got them, right? Oftentimes, these stored wooden items are stacked together and will hold moisture between the stacked items. The ants will take advantage of this, it doesn't mean they are hurting the wood.

Is the wood "damaged?" Are the posts pressure treated? If so, you don't need any treatment.
