Don, you could probably end the problem (for the time being) with an application of Termidor. However, the Styrofoam is the problem. They WILL come back. I think you'll have to plan to get rid of the Styrofoam. Styrofoam is a wonderful thing for the ants. It gives them the dead air spaces they love and the ease to hollow out galleries as they see fit. They really won't do too much "damage," they'll just make your life miserable.
Hit it with Termidor, see how long it takes them to come back and then you'll know what you have to do.
If it takes a couple of years before they return, you might just want to treat it chemically for now.
If the ants have ANY possible way to get to the Styrofoam, they will find it!
