You could.... Nothing keeps you from it. However, Termidor and Phantom are supposed to be applied by professionals, and the problem isn't that it's "too toxic" or anything, it that you would have to buy much more than you would need. The smallest amount of Termidor is around $100 or so, and it DOES have a shelf life. So I think it might be better to get a pro to do it.

I would wait until the spring is ove so you'll be able to tell if you really need it. If the ants dry up and it's a spring thing, I don't think you need to do anything. A few wandering around are NBD.

I don't think I'd fool around with the bait either. Ants are picky eaters - what worked last time won't work this time....
