My husband does maintenance for a condo complex here in FL. He said he started seeing these black balls here & there along the sidewalk & when he got closer he could see it was completely made up of ants. He just sprayed them & they'd die. However, yesterday, he saw about 8 of these "balls" in the pool & when he touched them, they just spread out & died. They covered the entire top layer of the pool - which is pretty large because it's for the condo complex. The hot tub was also completely covered. What's going on here? What kind are these & how do you get rid of them???
