Correct. The ants in no way harm the tree. As far as "migrating" is concerned, yes, I guess it's possible, but it's not probable. The ants will prefer the tree.

You could clean out the hole, paint the inside and fill it with concrete. But I think that's a waste of time. And it won't keep the ants out of the tree.
