Hi John, love both the site, and your unbiased views. We sold our home of many years earlier this year and have recently been contacted by the new owners who tell us they have a carpenter ant problem. After the exterminator sprayed unsuccessfully then opened up a ceiling or wall (we don't know which yet, sorry) they discovered a "significant infestation" that they say requires a lot of repair work to the home. We were honestly not aware of any "infestation" issues but their exterminator has advised them that it would be very unlikely that we could not have known given the damage he says was there after opening up the ceiling or walls etc. We have been very up front with them and even paid for half of the exterminator fee (sight unseen)but they are threatening legal action based on the exterminator's comments that we must have known about the issue. We kept our home immaculate and never ever opened any walls etc.or noticed anything that would have had us concerned about an ant problem. I guess this all boils down to:Is it possible that we could have had a large nest etc. in the house somewhere and just not known about it?
