Sure, if you or hubby are handy, opening the wall might be an easy way out, wallboard is easy to fix. Have the shop-vac handy in case you encounter the ants. Then fix any moisture problem you find. Might also be a good idea to leave it open or easily accessible for awhile.

I think I would skip the use of any insecticides in this case also. The shop-vac will do more nad it's non-toxic.
