We just bought our home last May, and the pest inspection report came back clean.
Over the summer we noticed some carpenter ants roaming throughout the home. We didn't do anything about them figuring they were merely scouts picking up the crumbs our toddler had left behind. When the weather grew cold, the ant activity stopped.
Then came New Years. At first we noticed a few ants here and there in our hallway. Ok. A Few Ants. Don't panic. Well, since then it seems as though their numbers have been increasing with me killing 10-20 a day. We baited using Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait and Advance Carpenter Ant Granules. They seem to love the Maxforce. Anyways, it has been 2 weeks since baiting began and the numbers have not diminished at all. I am concerned.
By the way, I know they are entering from the garage and coming up into the laundry room where my husband ran the electrical line for the dryer(and has yet to close the hole). The ant activity increases after the dryer is run. I am assuming the heat is driving them out.
Any advice that can be given would be greatly appreciated. I am extremely bothered by these little critters.
