A "regular" house inspector might not know the significance of that wood pile. An exterminator would. Make sure you get an exterminator to inspect your next house, in addition to the house inspector. And regardless, that wood pile might not have anything to do with your inside problem anyway.

You're going to have to find out exactly where the ants (or the frass) is coming from. (You said flies, I assume you mean flying ants.)

Once you pin down those areas, you might have to dismantle the trim or wooden components to get to the source of the problem.

You may need the help of an exterminator, watch out who you contract with. Skip the biggies, see if you can get a trusted, local independent. Both Termidor and Phantom can help you, I don't know how it's used up there.
