John, I'm confused because everyone in the ant board sees the ants dead or alive. Except for that one tiny beetle/ant, there's nothing crawling anywhere in my house that I can see---inside or outside.

Is that normal for carpenter ants?

All I see are those damn tiny wood shavings or sawdust---no sticky stuff or holes anywhere either. My townhouse is in Miami built in 1978 & I've lived here for 15 years (same wood beams) without any pest problems. It's a flat roof & I've no idea if there's foamboard between the roof & my wood beams.

Maybe I should just wait to see some actual insects before calling another exterminator? Would waiting harm the house?

The first ones I called totally misdiagnosed the problem & treated for termites & it was a local exterminator, not one of the biggies.

I'm just not sure what steps to take next. What do you think?
