Hi John - Sorry for the long post.....So discouraging I have been crying.
Have a big problem this year. Last year was pretty good - none in the house and I took care of outside with Ant Pros and Gourmet Liquid.
I once called Bill Murphy and he had stopped coming this far out and others I called do not use Termidor for some reason including a name that Bill had given me for this area....he doesn't use it either.
I am in a multilevel house and I started seeing ants on the 1st partially underground level which hubby said were coming from the wall connecting to the basement and we must have an inside nest and told me to put out Terro baits as the Antpros would not fit on the ledge back of the bathroom wall. I also have an AntPro outside on the brick patio. Well, from the million ants going up the corner of the wall in the basement now and the Terro baits are overloaded -- I presume they are really coming in from outside.
My health has declined terribly since reaching 73 - cancer, Crohn's disease, very bad immune system, bad arthritis in hips and knees plus allergy to pestacides and frankly I am a little afraid of having an exterminator who may not be looking out for me.
I am the one with water intrusion (once in spring and once in fall) and have fixed what we could but the mason said there is no way of fixing the chimney leak or where it comes in through the window. It is underground and the chimney is freestanding on hollow cinder blocks and told the backhoe guy to stop or the chimney would fall. We have exhausted our money for "fixing". If I could find someone who uses Termidor and Phantom would there be a problem if water washed it in as I wash the floor and wall with bleach after it dries. Also, would these chemicals be bad for my health?
I'm afraid I made a mistake listening to hubby and should not have put the Terro in the basement. I just want them to go outside -- I guess eventually they may have gone to the Antpro but I think there are millions out there in the mulch. We have stones directly against the house but that brick patio is a problem with the sand between the bricks.
Thanks for any advice as I do not want them on that 1st floor - it is only a few steps up to the kitchen and even with all the ants on the Terro I did see a couple on the 1st floor tonite. I do have dehumidifiers going and really try my best to keep the humidity down all over the house but am having much trouble doing things this year and hubby is sickly as well.
Thanks for any help and advice.
