Your dishwasher might be leaking.... If so, this would be a HUGE attraction for the ants. Run the DW through an entire cycle - maybe twice. Then pull out the DW and examine the DW closely. Also the floor where the dishwasher was. See if you can tell it was leaking. Get the DW fixed or replaced if it's leaking.
Check the floor. Check it from underneath (the basement?) If it's wet, you could have an ant prohblem, and boric acid application is just not going to hack it.
The ants like wet or moist conditions, or areas with little air change. You're in our great northwest, which means you have MUCH favorable conditions for these ants! Lucky you!
If you need an exterminator, and you might, get one that is familiar with the inside/outside treatment using Termidor and Phantom, forget the guys who want to drill into walls, etc.
(Both of those chems, BTW, are less toxic than the boric acid you've been using....}
