Ants just LOVE dishwashers... ALL kinds of ants, all kinds of dishwashers! It's an unvented appliance, so it retains moisture. Let your dishwasher dry out after each use, leave the door ajar, that will help in the future.

The cure is usually pretty easy for the exterminator, I use a powder, it generally takes care of things quickly. Homeowners don't really have access to the chemicals and equipment for this, get a local guy (skip the biggies) and get a guy that doesn't require a "contract."
