Well, in my experience... I doubt it. Obviously, they're just foraging workers, rather than an actual infestation, certainly if you haven't had the problem since last year.
Before you do that, you might want to try some insecticide granules around the outside. You can get that from the garden store and do it yourself. Get some that have ants on the label and follow the directions.
And just because they come "early" doesn't necessarily mean they're going to be worse or longer. Probably just shift the time when they're there.
It's been warm down here too, today it's 75 degrees as we speak. And we're getting those same calls.
I just never cared for those pyroid treatments, as a matter of fact, they have just put out new rules about that, here in NJ.
