So far so good! Not a sign of ants inside OR outside near the house. We formerly had a bunch of them wandering around the exterior, mostly on a sidewalk (at least those were the ones we noticed...). Now, there aren't any at all on the sidewalks, or the foundation of the house. Could the ant gel with fipronil have taken out the colony, even if it was in a nearby tree? We've lived here 21 years, and these past few weeks have been the only time I can remember seeing NO CA's!

I'm buying a bottle of Termador "Just in case". What do you think of doing a spray around the house and nearby pines just as a little extra incentive to persuade the little buggers to stay away?

You've been an enormous help! I've calmed down, the panic is replaced by knowledge, and I'm ready and feel confident I can handle whatever happens with these pests... (But I do admit, seeing a 3/4+" long queen - even dead - was a bit unnerving!)
Thank you!
