Last summer we had carpenter ants make their way into our kitchen from inside the wall (we have wood paneling). Thought they were just flying ants, sprayed, and they went away. Last month we dry walled over the wood, and yesterday while we were outside swimming, we saw the ants spew out of the siding outside our house. There were maybe 500 or so of them crawling out of the panels and flying away.
My question is: Are they gone and should we seal the holes they came out of, then work on replacing whatever wood is rotting? Or have they already planted eggs for next year and will just come back?
