We pulled the vent and got no action.. I bought one of those little inspection cameras and was able to locate an "ejecta" pile in the ceiling, up near the center of the roof. I found on the other side of that beam a decent amount of ants, and on the other side of the room some more. Sucked those bad boys up.
I'm thinking the moisture problem is why the roof was replaced (It was bank owned, so I don't know.. but the roof was replaced last spring before I bought it.)
It was nice and dry up there, and I found that the white board I was talking about was actually the old ceiling. Looks like they put new beams on top of that, and filled it with insulation and airspace..
I'll get my father in law to come take a look, he's a great builder and i'm sure if there's moisture he'll find it.
