The picture is too small to ID what they are, but it really doesn't matter a whole lot, ants LOVE those places with little air change.

By all means check that window. And any others you are wary of. Take of the trim, look with a strong light and have the shop-vac at the ready. Suck 'em all up then leave the trim off for "awhile." NO INSECTICIDES, no Raid, no borax, no ant traps, no nuttin'!

When you put the trim back, do it with SCREWS - you might have to take it off later.

If you STILL haven't found the problem, (sometimes it dries up on its own) then get a licensed exterminator to give the OUTSIDE of your house a treatment with Termidor. It usually lasts the entire season and you have no reason to fear it.
