We have a wood foundation and carpenter ants were found in my foam insulation walls below our porch in the basement. After 18 months of living here this was the first time they were noticed. We hired a company whom opened some of the foam were noise was heard like crackling and they sprayed. After that occurance ants that were never seen before migrated to our basement kitchen. They were on the counters, walls, appliances outlet plugs etc. I freaked out and the company came back and this time dusted area and they were eliminated for a month. Now recently a massive storm hit and water massively accumulated. My sixth sense had me wondering about that foam insulated room were ants were initally found and to my dismay water was leaking in my house. My husband ran outside and noticed water piled up on that side of the house due to a not pitched slab and clogged gutters. Ants came marching in again. The pest company returned removed another infested panel sprayed and left. We have since cleaned gutters pitched area away from the house and still see some i that too dead and the adjacent room were our bladder tank has moisture buildup from the heat. We are getting concrete slab by porch pitched and caulked. Any other ideas? What is your take on wood foundations. We bought it as a foreclosure 18 months ago and the first 4 seasons had no problems now we do? Concerned Laura from michigan
