Got your pictures. The one showing "damage" doesn't appear to be CA damage - looks like water damage, or just soft wood. I really can't tell unless I see it in person.

Again, what you show me is not unusual. I don't think you should do any more than have that Termidor perimeter spray. With exterminating, you start with the cheapest thing first. And that would be the cheapest and most effective.

Don't obsess. Carpenter ants are NBD. They would only be a big deal if you see HUNDREDS every day!

A perimeter spray, unless you live in some kind of castle, should be under $200. If you were here, with a "problem" like that, I would try to talk you OUT of any treatment, unless I knew you had a problem.
