I have been reading many of these postings and they are very comforting, and you do a great job of talking some sense into people; I am hoping you can do the same for me! I have been dealing with a carpenter ant problem for about a month, seeing ~20-30/day alive in the house, after accidentally finding a nest on the patio one night. The nest was in a large terra cotta planter used to house a hose and watering can, and I believe it was the main nest because of the number of ants that came running out holding white egg sacks. That night, during, and after, my panic attack(s), I did the best I could to totally destroy and clean up the nest, and assumed I would see some activity in the next couple of days, which I did. However, the activity has not diminished, and I continue to see the 20-30 large or XL sized ants daily, in the house, appearing to come from 2 or 3 different places but all heading down the same hallway. It's almost like a dance routine - they seem to be timing their entry every few minutes and it is maddening. My exterminator is one of the "good guys" and seems to have done every rational thing without overreacting, but we cannot find any moisture issues, "sawdust', etc... - any of the usual signs. I "followed" one ant down the hall and it went back outside...but 20-30 new ants a day is too much for me to consider just a nuisance, and, in the meantime, I cannot sleep, knowing that these things are trying to have their way with my house. What do you suggest for treatment - for the ants, not me, haha! Thank you!
