Search? Of course, but don't get all worried if you can't find "The Nest." Sometimes you can't. Actually, oftentimes you can't. But that doesn't mean you can't get rid of the problem, oftentimes you can! Actually, more that often you can! So there's hope.

These little guys can survive most winters, they even have them in Alaska!

You mentioned the porch - how 'bout the roof of the porch? Does it have a proper pitch? Clogged gutters? Need to replace the roof? (NEVER put a roof on top of another, rip the old one off first. Do it right!)

Now, assuming you DON'T find "The Nest," what to do? (And actually, even if you DO find the nest, you might consider what I propose next,)

When spring finally does come, you'll want to contact *YOUR* exterminator. What's that? You don't HAVE an exterminator? Ok, so what you need to do, between now and the spring, is FIND one! First of all, forget all the biggies. They'll want to corral you into some kind of "contract" that you don't need.

You need a local guy, one that doesn't send out a salesman instead of a LICENSED exterminator. And what you want to ask for is an inside/outside treatment with Termidor/Phantom. Oftentimes, you donít need the inside treatment, but if you donít find the problem, then I would recommend BOTH. These are NOT chemicals you have to worry about, so donít worry, ok? Make sure the guy you employ will do this without a contract - you donít need one. For the most part, this treatment is a once-per-season treatment, not one where they come every so often.

Make sure you get a good guy, local to you, someone that knows what youíre talking about when you ask him about the treatment above. If he tries to stick any extras in there, find another guy. There ARE good guys out there, sometimes you have to hunt them down.

As far as the donate button is concerned, hereís one, just for you! But itís only fake - it doesnít go anywhere - besides, Iím rich already lol. This site and these message boards have been up on the Web since 1995 and I consider them a public service.

Now donít worry about it, start your search for the ants AND the exterminator and please stop back and let us (me) know how it all goes! And if you have any questions, get back to me.

---John
