Thank you so much for your website I have been researching about these carpenter ants since I mentioned to my neighbor that I noticed this spring big black ants instead of those regular sized that I see every spring. He told me they could be carpenter ants and they are not good as they can compromise the structure of the house. After reading and reading i decided to buy max force gel specifically for carpenter ants.
The house was built several years ago and all this started after we add screened porch so ants coming from underneath the door that leading to the screened porch I noticed small hole right in the corner of hardwood floor trim and one day I saw something black when I approoched there was a lot of ants coming with wings and without from that tiny hold I got one I. plastic bag to study it , the size about half of inch I checked the ants wings and antennas and it was the carpenter ants.
I applied the max force gel in in that hole as well as other areas like between boards on screen porch along the the board touching the siding.
Do you think I have moisture problem I hired very reputable deck company to build screened porch I do see the flashing they did remove the vinyl siding to nail to ledger.
Max force so far killed all the ants some of them still walking dizzy but basically I didnt see normal running ants on my screened porch.
How do I check if there is mosture problem in the ledger between the siding and screened porch .
Should I contact the deck company and if I do what do I tell them.
And yes number was more like 25 in the morning but I ran right the way took clay and try to seel the hole and all base door until I received the max force gel.once I received gel I opened the door and when I opened the door some wood frass fell of from the base of the door where the rubber water stopper underneerh the door . Also the windows that look at porch also have those carpenter ants coming from bottom window trim I just keep windows closed.
Thank you,
