"Trusty Pest Guru" - hahaha. But thanks for the compliment!

Fipronil is indeed the chemical that you need for your job. Really effective against almost every "social" insect, that's why you can see the same chem for ants and roaches. It's also devastating to our bee populations too, they are also social. And, as a matter of fact, I use the little ant pucks and roach pucks almost interchangeably. Great stuff if used carefully.

So, yes, just about anything with Fipronil should work, even if it says "ants." I see it in grocery stores, places like Home Depot too. I'm sure that Amazon has something also, what the hell, they sell everything else! I used to sell those things, but Amazon beat me out, they probably buy it by the skid, I buy a few at a time.

Failing all that, you can also go to a local exterminator's supply store, this is NOT a registered chemical. You'll pay counter price, there won't be an exterminator's discount. But then again, you really won't be buying a whole lot of it. Your IP says youíre in DC, but those arenít always accurate. Let me know exactly where you are and Iíll check and see if thereís any supple stores near you, if you canít find anything. The counter guys usually know whatís effective and can often advise you.

Dip them in warm water, sometimes those pucks have been around awhile... After a month or two, they need to be replaced. And don't waste your money by ALWAYS having them around, these things are generally curative, not preventive.

And, of course, you can opt for a pro to apply Termidor (Fipronil) around the outside, which (mostly) affects the inside ants too. This would normally be a power spray, applied by back pack or even off a truck with a power spray setup. Get a local guy, skip the biggies.

Thatís about it. Get back if you have any more questions.

---John
