Carpenter Ants behind wall in bathroom shower/tub

Hi. Ants, and yes, not a lot, are coming out through the diverter. They hang around between the drain and the faucet. There are not a lot of them but they can sometimes wind up on me! Which is unpleasant when you are just having a chill in front of the tube. I wonder if it is a definite that there would be a leak behind my tiles if they are coming in that way or if they could have simply found a way in. And what about me putting some bait in the diverter space. Would that then wind up in my showering water? Not a plumber as you can see. Thanks for any suggestions. And I'm not rushing to do anything, reading this site has relaxed me (except when I find one on my neck). Thank you.
