Very possibly a leak back in there... I run into that a LOT. In which case, your money would be better spent on a plumber, rather than the exterminator.

I should warn you, if there is a leak back there, it could be expensive - by the plumber, I mean. Just had one like that a few weeks ago, I declined to treat and told the lady the same thing I just told you. As it worked out, the whole wall had to be taken out and new tile put in, after the wall was rebuilt.

Get the plumber. And be ready with a shop-vac if you uncover any ants. Skip the bug spray.
