You are so terrific with both your advice and quick follow up. Just quickly if I may ask: 1) Regarding the beauty bark--is it all right to continue to have beauty bark next to the house as long as it is not actually coming up to/touching the foundation of the house? I thought I had read in an Extension Service bulletin that if there is bark around the house a preventive measure to keep CAs away is to keep the bark at a depth of no more than 2 inches. But is it better not to have it actually coming up to the house OR is it even more preventive to replace the bark with decorative stone chips? Whatever advice you have regarding beauty bark and CAs is appreciated.
2) When we noticed the frass and then started to tear up the side of the house to see the actual structural damaged caused by the CAs, approximately how long did it take the ants to do the damage? Again, I thought I read the colony could be around 3-4 years before a home owner even notices and/or incurs any structural damage.
Your feedback has been extremely helpful and I will share it all once you have the opportunity to answer the follow up questions. The ant message board has been so very helpful. Thanks again!
