Oh yeah. This old house has plenty of holes for sure. Thanks for the advice. I am sure they have a satellite nest in the walls somewhere as I am unsure of exactly how long they were coming in through he electrical wires. I just know that they were coming in and leaving at a pretty good rate while observing them before I sealed it and trimmed the tree.
This leads me to a couple follow up questions, as it's all new....and interesting....to me. I noticed that they appear in different spots in the house during different times. Might these be the nest attempting to branch out? It's strange, as you never quite know which area will have them.
Also, I got the terro 2 traps. They haven't really monkeyed with them very much at all. Is this typical of these ant species to not really go for those baits?
Also, if they have no food source......as I am fairly confident they are no longer getting in or out...... How long will they live?
I also dug away to expose the foundation and have been painting the house sealing up cracks and such, which explains why I think they are no longer coming in. I did spray that termidor stuff, reluctantly, along the entire foundation just to be sure. This was, of course, before reading your blog. I tend to have a knee jerk reaction as we just spent thousands updating this place.
Again, thanks for the advice and quick reponse. You obviously have a passion here and I am glad that people like you exist. There is too much commercial interests in the world and not enough looking out for one another.
