As far as "running out of food" is concerned, it's not the food issue, they'll find food. It's the other conditions that will allow them to stay. And they're aren't many houses, during their lifetimes, that don't experience a CA nest or problem - SOMEWHERE. And it's also possible for you to have a quite large nest, for a long time, and hardly ever see an ant - ANY kind.
Use Termidor sparingly, don't double up on titration and follow the directions for applying on the outside. Done right, this stuff works miracles.
The different sightings, in different places just means you are seeing wanderers. They'll wander around until they find their way, or you kill them.
A few mean nothing, so don't obsess on it. And I appreciate your compliments!
Baiting for CAs is tricky. What worked last time won't work this time. I use very little, especially with Termidor and the other non-repellants around.
