Hi John – I’m back with another ant question. I thought we were finally rid of these pests but apparently not. You’ll recall I had an exterminator out on 8/20 and then the second time on 9/10. I feel that the exterminator is doing a good job, but we’re not rid of them yet. After the second time on 9/10 the exterminator told me he could pretty much guarantee I wouldn’t see any more ants after the following Friday (9/19). He sprayed inside the house again, including putting several little dabs of a clear substance which was bait around the top ledge of the counter backsplash. He also did a little spot-spraying again outside. A lot of ants then took to the bait on the ledge and around the window frame. For several days I found dead ants on the countertop which I expected to happen. Then it was quiet for several days, and I thought that was it. Now over the last several days we have seen maybe one ant each day around the window frame. Then this morning the party started again. There were a bunch of them covering two of the bait spots that still remain.(hope the baits are still effective) I’m going to call the exterminator again, but I did want your opinion on this before I do. When he was here, he commented that what I had appeared to be a minor problem. I’m not sure why they are still showing up if it is a minor problem. We had a fair amount of rain overnight and this morning, and I know that tends to draw them out, but in my case after two treatments I would hope that wouldn’t happen. Thanks for your opinion!
